B6.FVB(129X1)-Tg(Sim1-cre)1Lowl/J

Cat. No.: CEMM-07250050

When these Sim1-Cre mice are bred with mice containing a loxP-flanked sequence of interest, Cre-mediated recombination will result in deletion of the flanked sequences in Sim1-expressing tissues (including hypothalamus). As such, Sim1-Cre transgenic mice may be useful in studying body weight homeostasis, obesity, leptin metabolism, or as a reporter strain for Sim1-transcription factor activity.

Molecular Note
The Cre ATG was inserted via recombineering techniques, into the Sim1 ATG site of a BAC containing 137.1 kb of genomic C57BL/6 Sim1 sequences up to and including exon 8. The inserted Cre sequence deleted the first 31 bp of the Sim1 gene.

Breeding Considerations
When maintaining a live colony, hemizygous mice are bred to C57BL/6J or wildtype siblings.
