STOCK Tg(CAG-Bgeo/GFP)21Lbe/J
Cat. No.: CEMM-07250010
Common Name: Z/EG
Expression of lacZ in these mice is under the control of the CMV enhancer/chicken actin promoter and is widespread except in liver and lung tissue. When crossed with a Cre recombinase-expressing strain, lacZ expression is replaced with GFP in tissues expressing cre.

Molecular Note |
This transgene contains a CMV enhancer/chicken beta actin promoter, a segment consisting of floxed lacZ and neomycin resistance genes/SV40 polyadenylation signal, and an enhanced GFP reporter gene followed by a rabbit beta-globin polyadenylation sequence. Expression of lacZ in transgenic mice is widespread, with notable exceptions being liver and lung tissue. This expression is observed throughout all embryonic and adult stages. Upon exposure to Cre recombinase to excise the lacZ-polyA cassette, EGFP is expressed in Cre dependant manner. This transgene was inserted in the G1 band of Chromosome 5 at approximately 136.35 MB (build 37).

Breeding Considerations |
When maintaining a live colony, hemizygous mice are bred with wildtype (non-carrier) mice. Although homozygotes are viable, attempts to breed homozygous mice proved unsuccessful.
