The CAG promoter drives expression of a floxed chloramphenicol acetyltransferase gene and the mouse Twist1 gene. Chloramphenicol acetyltransferase serves as a reporter and a silencer. Twist1 expression occurs only after Cre excision of chloramphenicol acetyltransferase.
