C57BL/6J-Gnetm1Dar/J

Cat. No.: CEMM-07251059

Common Name: GneM712T
These mice possess a M743T mutation (initially designated as M712T) in the Gne gene. Additionally, the exon harboring the mutation (exon 12) is floxed. These mice may have applications in studies related to neuromuscular disorder hereditary inclusion body myopathy (HIBM).

Molecular Note
A targeting vector was designed to insert the M743T (formerly described as M712T) substitution in exon 12. LoxP sites were inserted upstream of exon 12 and downstream of an FRT flanked PGK-neo in intron 12.

Breeding Considerations
When maintaining a live colony, heterozygous mice may be bred to wildtype mice from the colony or C57BL/6J inbred mice. The donating investigator reports that homozygous mice do not live past P3. This lethal phenotype can be rescued by administrating sialic acid N-Acetylneuraminate (Neu5Ac) or its precursor N-Acetylmannosamine (ManNAc) to the dam.
