B6.Cg-Serpina3ctm1.1Chao/J

Cat. No.: CEMM-07250913

Common Name: KSfl [floxed exon 3]
KSfl mice have loxP sites flanking exon 3 of the kallistatin-encoding gene (Serpina3c). Cre recombinase-mediated removal of the floxed sequence creates the predicted kallistatin knock-out allele. These KSfl mice may be useful in studying oxidative stress, inflammation, apoptosis, fibrosis, angiogenesis, cancer, tumors, vascular injury and cardiovascular disease.

Molecular Note
The targeting vector is designed to have a loxP site upstream of exon 3, and an FRT flanked neo cassette followed by a loxP site just downstream of exon 3 of the gene. Flp-mediated recombination removed the FRT flanked neo cassette leaving exon 3 floxed.

Breeding Considerations
Mice heterozygous or homozygous for this floxed allele are viable and fertile with normal breeding, and no reported gross physical or behavioral abnormalities. When maintaining a live colony, heterozygous mice may be bred together, to wildtype mice from the colony or to C57BL/6J inbred mice. Alternatively, homozygous mice may be bred together.
