B6.Cg-Avpr1btm2.1(cre)Wsy/J

Cat. No.: CEMM-07251078

Common Name: V1brCre
Avpr1bCre knock-in/knock-out mice have the endogenous arginine vasopressin receptor 1B promoter/enhancer sequences directing expression of Cre recombinase. These mice are a Cre-lox tool allowing Cre recombination in Avpr1b-expressing cells/tissues (including the caudate-putamen, olfactory bulb, and pyramidal neurons in the CA2 region of the hippocampus), and may be useful in studying memory, aggression, and regulation of the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis.

Molecular Note
The Cre-nuclear localization sequence and FRT flanked pgk-neo cassette was inserted to replace the coding region from the initiating codon in exon 1 of the mouse Avpr1b gene by homologous recombination in the ES cells. The chimeras generated from correctly targetted ES cells were crossed to the FLPe deleter to remove the pgk-neo cassette. The absence of Avpr1b mRNA in brain of homozygous mice was confirmed.

Breeding Considerations
Both heterozygous and homozygous mice are viable and fertile with normal breeding, and no reported gross phenotypic or behavioral abnormalities. When maintaining a live colony, heterozygous mice may be bred together, to wildtype mice from the colony or to C57BL/6J inbred mice. Alternatively, homozygous mice may be bred together.
