B6.FVB(129S6)-Tg(Drd1a-cre)AGsc/KndlJ

Cat. No.: CEMM-07250795

Common Name: D1-Cre (C57BL/6J); B6J.D1-Cre; B6J.D1Cre
D1-Cre YAC transgenic mice have Cre recombinase expressed from the mouse Drd1a promoter. The spatio-temporal pattern of Cre expression in dopaminoceptive neurons is reported to closely recapitulate that of the endogenous Drd1a gene in embryonic and adult stages.

Molecular Note
A YAC containing the Cre open reading frame with a nuclear localization signal and under the control of a Drd1a promoter was used to Create a transgene. Expression was confirmed through crosses with three reporter lines and localized to the major dopaminoceptive regions. Line A contains 3 copies of the transgene.

Breeding Considerations
D1-Cre YAC transgenic mice were bred to C57BL/6J inbred mice for several generations using a marker-assisted, speed congenic approach to establish this congenic strain. When maintaining the live congenic colony, hemizygous mice may be bred with wildtype (non-carrier) mice from the colony. To date, it has not been attempted to make this strain homozygous.
