Molecular Note
A codon-improved Cre (iCre) containing a nuclear localization signal (nls) and an SV40 polyadenylation signal was fused to the initiation codon of the Nkx6-2 gene in a bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC). The construct was injected into fertilized oocytes.

Breeding Considerations
When maintaining a live colony hemizygous mice may be bred to wildtype (non-carrier) mice from the colony or to C57BL/6J. The donating investigator has not attempted to breed this strain to homozygosity. Occasional Cre expression is observed in the male germline resulting in germline recombination of floxed alleles when these are carried by the male parent.
