B6;C3-Tg(Mybpc1-cre)2Aibs/J
Cat. No.: CEMM-07250135
Common Name: Mybpc1-Cre
These 8030451F13Rik-Tg2-Cre (Mybpc1-Cre) express Cre recombinase under the control of the Mybpc1 (myosin binding protein C, slow-type; formerly called 8030451F13Rik) promoter/enhancer regions, and may be useful for generating conditional mutations for studying gain or loss of function and/or fate mapping in the cortex of the brain and hippocampus.

Site of Expression |
Hemizygous 8030451F13Rik-Tg2-Cre mice are viable and fertile, with Cre expression directed to scattered populations within the cortex and hippocampus by the Mybpc1 (8030451F13Rik) promoter/enhancer regions within the BAC transgene.

Molecular Note |
The 192 kb C57BL/6J mouse bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) RP23-116K19, containing the entire Mybpc1 (8030451F13Rik) locus (and other genes), was modified by targeting a Cre recombinase coding sequence (the CreERT2 sequence modified back to encode the normal Cre recombinase gene), SV40 polyA signal, and FRT flanked neomycin cassette to the ATG start site of the Mybpc1 locus. The targeted BAC sequences were further modified using FLP recombination to remove the selection cassette and linearized to remove its original vector backbone. Cre expression is directed to scattered populations within the cortex and hippocampus by the Mybpc1 promoter/enhancer regions within the BAC transgene.

Breeding Considerations |
When maintaining a live colony, transgenic carrier mice may be bred together, to wildtype (non-carrier) siblings, or to C57BL/6J inbred mice.
