B6;C3-Tg(Cyp39a1-cre)1Aibs/J
Cat. No.: CEMM-07250133
Common Name: Cyp39a1-Tg1-Cre
These Cyp39a1-Tg1-Cre mice express Cre recombinase under the control of the Cyp39a1 (cytochrome P450, family 39, subfamily a, polypeptide 1) promoter/enhancer regions, and may be useful for generating conditional mutations for studying gain or loss of function and/or fate mapping in subgroups of brain tissues (including cortex, hippocampus, striatum, olfactory bulb and cerebellum).

Site of Expression |
Hemizygous Cyp39a1-Tg1-Cre mice are viable and fertile, with Cre expression directed to cortex, hippocampus, striatum, olfactory bulb and cerebellum by the Cyp39a1 promoter/enhancer regions within the BAC transgene.

Molecular Note |
The 206 kb C57BL/6J mouse bacterial artificial chromosome (BAC) RP23-370M9, containing the entire Cyp39a1 locus (and other genes), was modified by targeting a Cre recombinase coding sequence (the CreERT2 sequence modified back to encode the normal Cre recombinase gene), SV40 polyA signal, and FRT flanked neomycin cassette to the ATG start site of the Cyp39a1 locus. The targeted BAC sequences were further modified using FLP recombination to remove the selection cassette and linearized to remove its original vector backbone. Cre expression is directed to cortex, hippocampus and cerebellum by the Cyp39a1 promoter/enhancer regions within the BAC transgene.

Breeding Considerations |
When maintaining a live colony, transgenic carrier mice may be bred together, to wildtype (non-carrier) siblings, or to C57BL/6J inbred mice.
