B6;129-Fzd5tm2Nat/J

Cat. No.: CEMM-07250123

Common Name: Fz5 CKO-AP
This is a conditional allele of the frizzled 5 gene in which the coding region was flanked by loxP sites and an alkaline phosphatase (AP) reporter was placed downstream. Cre-mediated recombination eliminates the coding region in a tissue-specific manner, ablates expression of the gene, and causes alkaline phosphatase (AP) to be expressed under the control of the frizzled 5 promoter. If recombination is mediated by an embryonic tissue-specific Cre, such as Sox2-Cre (e.g.), mice show a loss of cells in the parafasicular nucleus of the thalamus and defects in eye development.

Molecular Note
A loxP site was inserted downstream of exon 1 and a cassette containg a 5' loxP site, alkaline phosphatase gene and an FRT flanked neo gene was inserted downstream of exon 2. Germ line, flp-mediated recombination was used to remove the neo cassette leaving exon 2 floxed and the alkaline phosphatase gene intact. This is a floxed allele and a reporter allele.
