B6;129-Fn1tm1Ref/J

Cat. No.: CEMM-07250742

Common Name: Fnfl (floxed exon 1)
The Fnfl floxed allele has loxP sites flanking exon 1 of the fibronectin 1 gene. Cre-mediated removal of the floxed sequence creates a null allele. Fnfl mice may be useful in studying extracellular matrix proteins in cardiovascular, cancer and central nervous system.

Molecular Note
Exon 1 was flanked by loxP sites inserted into the 5' untranslated region and intron 1. The presence of the loxP sites were shown to have no effect on expression, as the levels of mRNA in liver and of protein in plasma, liver, heart, kidney were found to be normal by Northern and Western blot analyses.

Breeding Considerations
Mice homozygous for the Fnfl allele are viable and fertile with no reported abnormalities. When maintaining a live colony, heterozygous mice may be bred together, to wildtype mice from the colony or to C57BL/6J inbred mice. Alternatively, homozygous mice may be bred together.
