STOCK En2tm4(cre/ERT2)Alj/J

Cat. No.: CEMM-07250087

En2-CreERT2 mutant mice harbor the Cre-ERT2 fusion gene under control of the endogenous engrailed 2 locus. When En2-CreERT2 mice are bred with mice containing a loxP-flanked sequence of interest, tamoxifen-inducible, Cre-mediated recombination will result in deletion of the flanked sequences in En2-expressing tissues (including the developing mesencephalon, rhombomere 1, and jaw muscles, as well as the embryonic and adult cerebellum).

Molecular Note
A tamoxifen dependent form of Cre recombinase (CreER) and a loxP-flanked neo in reverse orientation were inserted into the 5' UTR. The neo was removed in vivo via Cre-mediated recombination.

Suggested Controls
Wild-type from the colony

Breeding Considerations
When maintaining a live colony, heterozygous mice may be bred together or with wildtype siblings. The donating investigator reports that homozygous mice are "semi-fertile" and do not breed well.
