Lbhd2-CreERT2 knock-in mice have the endogenous LBH domain containing 2 promoter/enhancer sequences directing expression of tamoxifen-inducible Cre recombinase. These mice are a Cre-lox tool allowing inducible Cre recombination in Lbhd2-expressing cells/tissues (including mitral cells of the olfactory bulb), and may be useful in studying neural development and olfactory neurocircuitry.

Molecular Note |
Using CRISPR/Cas9 technology an IRES enhancer sequence, a CreER(T2) fusion gene, and a rabbit globin polyadenylation (rGpA) termination sequence were inserted immediately downstream of the LBH domain containing 2 locus of the Lbhd2 gene on chromosome 12. The construct was electroporated into C57BL/6JJcl-derived embryonic stem (ES) cells. Correctly targeted ES cells were injected into recipient blastocysts, and chimeric mice were bred with C57BL/6JJcl for germline transmission.

Breeding Considerations |
Both heterozygous and homozygous mice are viable and fertile with normal breeding, and no reported gross phenotypic or behavioral abnormalities. When maintaining a live colony, heterozygous mice may be bred together, to wildtype mice from the colony or to C57BL/6J inbred mice. Alternatively, homozygous mice may be bred together.
